Back in 1994 Dean Larson started working as an owner operator, starting his own company called Custom Excavating. Ten years later he established a sister company called Trails End Recovery. Together they have worked on many diverse projects. In the 2007 storm we worked to remove storm debris from roadways and homes. Along with road building, home demolitions, major grinding and recycling operations, we also work with water treatment plants, and waste water facilities, some involving clearing and logging.

Custom Excavating also specializes in highway day lighting and removal of hazard trees. We are experienced in working with pipeline projects and dealing with different soils with a variety of depths from 3-4 feet to 30-40 feet. Our company, with our experienced employees, can approach any job or situation and have a successful outcome. Over the years the company has grown significantly, working hard and completing the job successfully. We have earned a professional reputation with the people of Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Biomass Removal / In-Woods and On-Site Grinding Services

It hasn't been too long ago since most contractors would have preferred to burn clean wood debris as opposed to hauling it off site and paying disposal fees. Stricter burning laws, rising fuel costs, changing weather patterns, and expanding residential boundaries have changed the dynamics on how most contractors handle clean wood debris.

Much of the debris is being processed for use as an alternate fuel source. This is good news to contractors as it cuts handling costs that are normally associated with grinding because we come to the job site!

Time savings is significant too. Under normal conditions around 1000 yards of material can be processed and shipped from a job site in a single day. Custom Excavating offers a complete solution from processing the material to hauling the material off site for any size of job.
